Join our free, beginner-friendly sewing workshop in Doncaster! Teens will design and make their own colourful patchwork cushion using fun fabrics and threads. All materials included. No experience needed. Funded by Doncaster’s Universal Fund, this inclusive session supports creativity, confidence, and skill-building in a relaxed space.

🧵 Patchwork Cushion Workshop Doncaster – Creative Sewing Class for Teens

Looking for a fun, creative activity for teens in Doncaster? Join our Patchwork Cushion Workshop — a hands-on, beginner-friendly sewing class designed for young people aged 12–18, or up to 25 with diagnosed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Thanks to support from Doncaster’s Universal Fund, this unique session gives young people the chance to get crafty, learn new skills, and express themselves through colour, fabric, and texture — all while building confidence in a calm, inclusive space.

✂️ Workshop Overview: Design & Sew Your Own Patchwork Cushion

In this 3-hour creative sewing workshop, each participant will design and sew their very own patchwork cushion using a variety of colourful fabric squares and trimmings. They’ll learn how to:

  • Plan a simple patchwork design

  • Use beginner sewing techniques

  • Assemble and sew a cushion cover

  • Add finishing touches like buttons or embellishments

With friendly, step-by-step guidance, they’ll leave with a completed, personalised cushion to take home — and a huge sense of achievement!

This workshop is a fantastic way to boost fine motor skills, spark creativity, and build confidence in a supportive and fun environment.

✅ What’s Included in This Patchwork Cushion Sewing Workshop

We provide everything your teen needs to create their cushion:

  • A wide selection of colourful fabrics, threads, buttons, and trimmings

  • Templates and tools suitable for beginners

  • Use of child/teen-friendly sewing machines and equipment

  • Step-by-step guidance from an experienced, supportive instructor

  • Drinks and snacks during short, scheduled breaks

  • A completed patchwork cushion to take home

Our team ensures the space is relaxed, welcoming, and supportive — especially for young people with SEND.

❌ What You Need to Bring

Nothing! We supply everything. Simply bring your child and their imagination — we’ll handle the rest. Because we know comfort matters, we make sure the space is warm, clean, and welcoming.

  • Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

  • Duration: Approx. 3 hours (with short breaks to keep things fun and relaxed)

🎓 Skill Level

No sewing experience? No problem. This class is ideal for complete beginners, and tailored to suit different learning styles. Whether your teen is new to crafting or looking to try something creative in a friendly setting, this is the perfect opportunity.

This workshop is proudly funded by Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council’s Universal Fund. This grant supports inclusive, enriching activities for children and young people across the region — especially those aged up to 18, or up to 25 with diagnosed SEND.

As a result, families can enjoy high-quality creative learning experiences with no added cost.
