What You’ll Learn in the Learn to Make a Premium Tote Bag Workshop

Our Premium Tote Bag sewing workshop is split into two sessions, allowing you to develop your skills step-by-step while working towards a stunning finished bag.

Part 1: Building the Foundation

In the first session of the Learn to Make a Premium Tote Bag workshop, you will:

  • Cut and prepare your fabric and pattern pieces with precision

  • Fuse interfacing to create strength and durability

  • Sew the complete bag lining

  • Install a professional-looking letterbox zipper pocket

  • Create a recessed zipper closure for a polished, high-end finish

Part 2: Assembly and Finishing

In the second session of your tote bag sewing course, you will:

  • Assemble the outer body of your Premium Tote Bag

  • Attach exterior pockets and sturdy, stylish handles

  • Join the lining and outer sections together for a fully structured, professional finish

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a stunning, handmade tote bag that looks store-bought!

Materials to Bring for Your Tote Bag Sewing Workshop

(Everything you need is available to purchase from Sewcute Fabrics unless otherwise stated.)

For Part 1:

  • 1m Exterior Fabric (quilting cotton ideal)

  • 2m Lining Fabric (quilting cotton or polycotton)

  • ½m Solid Fabric for handles (minimum 40” wide)

  • 0.75m Vlieseline Style-Vil Foam Interfacing (fusible or sew-in)

  • 2m Medium-weight fusible interfacing (or woven interfacing like G700)

  • Zippers:
    – Either three 14” zippers and one 16” zipper
    – OR 2m continuous zipper tape and four zipper pulls

  • Optional: Metal zipper stops for recessed zippers

  • Coordinating sewing threads

  • Optional: Sewing clips and ¼” double-sided washaway tape

For Part 2:

  • Prepared bag components from Part 1

  • Completed lining, exterior pieces, and interfaced sections

  • Coordinating thread and any finishing extras
