Join us for a relaxed and friendly Folded Star Cushion Workshop, where you’ll learn how to make your very own Folded Star cushion cover to take home.
This workshop is suitable for beginners with a basic knowledge of using a sewing machine as well as those who already have some sewing experience. You’ll be guided through the process step by step, with plenty of help and support available throughout the session.

🧵 What You will Learn
During the workshop, you will learn how to:
- Precision cutting: How to cut using a rotary cutter
- Fabric Folding: How to cut and press fabric squares (often fat quarters) into precise triangles or pointed strips.
- Concentric Layering: How to arrange and sew multiple rounds of folded points onto a foundation square or circle.
- Precision Construction: How to layer batting, add sashing or a framing border, and construct the back panel to turn your finished block into a cushion cover

Our tutor will be on hand throughout the session to guide and support you.
🧶 What You’ll Need to Bring
To make your Folded Star Cushion Cover, please bring:
- Cotton Fabric – Approx 8 x Fat Quarters for the front of your cushion. You could do a colour themed or christmas themed, the choice is totally yours
- Plain fabric – Fat Quarter (Calico or plain fabric) to attach your fat quarter fabrics to once cut and folded.
- Backing fabric – 3/4m cotton fabric for the envelope back of the cushion
- Matching sewing thread.
- 16″ Cushion inner – You can also purchase one next door at Sewcute Fabrics
Don’t have everything you need? Don’t worry, suitable materials can also be purchased from Sewcute Fabrics on the day but please come a bit earlier to allow time to choose your fabrics before the workshop starts as you will need all your workshop time to complete the cushion cover
