At Sew Mindful Crafts, we believe that sewing can have a positive impact on mental and physical health. Our Sewing for Wellbeing course is a free 8-week programme designed to help people in Doncaster who have a long-term or chronic health condition. If you meet the criteria, you can join for free and learn new skills in a friendly and supportive environment.
If you don’t meet the eligibility criteria but are still interested in taking part, we may have additional places available for a small fee (£45 for the full 8 weeks). Please check availability on our website or contact us for more information.
What’s Included in the Course?
This 8-week programme takes place every Monday from 10am to 1pm, followed by a free Coffee, Cake, and Chat session from 1pm to 3pm. This provides an opportunity to socialise and connect with others while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere.
Throughout the course, participants will:
✅ Learn how to use a sewing machine
✅ Make a simple, stylish bag
✅ Create a patchwork cushion cover
✅ Upcycle and adjust clothing
✅ Gain confidence using an overlocker
All materials and equipment are provided free of charge, and no prior sewing experience is needed!
The Benefits of Sewing for Wellbeing
Sewing is more than just a creative activity—it can help reduce stress, improve focus, and provide a sense of achievement. Many participants find that learning a new skill in a social setting boosts confidence and mental resilience.
This programme is funded by the Social Isolation Alliance, allowing us to make it accessible to those who need it most.
